complete the picture. morecambe bay, constantly changing through the seasons, is a fabulous place for some quiet bird watching. south cumbria and the area along the furness line has a large number and variety of nature reserves. many are accessible from the furness line or by connecting transport. barrow is a major centre of employment with many attractions for tourists which include furness abbey and the off shore islands of piel, walney and roa with their natural and cultural heritage. nearby ulverston is famous for its variety of festivals and pleasant shopping amongst the town’s cobbled streets. grange-over-sands is a wonderfully vibrant victorian resort as is the smaller town of arnside. both have some fine restaurants and cafes with views to the lakeland fells across the estuaries.
